Drug intelligence / Profile preview
`[177Lu]Lu-PP-F11N` is a peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) agent consisting of the minigastrin analogue PP-F11N conjugated to the chelator DOTA and radiolabeled with the beta-emitting radioisotope lutetium-177 (177Lu). It specifically targets the cholecystokinin B receptor (CCKBR, also known as CCK2R), which is highly overexpressed in medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and other neuroendocrine tumors. Upon binding to CCKBR, the radiopharmaceutical is internalized, delivering localized cytotoxic beta radiation to the tumor cells, leading to DNA damage and cell death. It is being developed by Yukon Biosciences, a spin-off of the Paul Scherrer Institute, in collaboration with University Hospital Basel, and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of advanced medullary thyroid carcinoma and other CCKBR-expressing neuroendocrine tumors.
